State Rep. Caroline Fairly (R-Amarillo) is asking voters to send her back to Austin for another term.

On Thursday, Fairly filed her application for a place on the ballot for the March primary election. Fairly is the only candidate so far who has filed for District 87 with either party.

Fairly, a medical negotiator and daughter of Amarillo businessman Alex Fairly, won a four-way primary for her seat in 2024. She went on to defeat Democrat Tim Gassaway and independent write-in candidate Jeff McGunegle in the general election that year.

The primary election will be held in March 2026.
